The Range Rover Classic by Vinyl is not an ordinary SUV restomod, but an almost outrageously luxurious reinterpretation of a true classic.
Only 15 piece are built, all tailor-made and manufactured in Maranello – by hand, of course.
Exterior: Classic meets precision
Visually, the range remains true to its line – but on a new level. Body looks tidier and more precise, primarily due to the reduced gaps and newly shaped bumpers, which are seamlessly integrated. Black accents, such as the Ribbon with yellow border on the side, get the SUV into today – without denying yesterday.
Modern LED headlights and three-dimensional grilles ensure a fresh front image, while the round Fog Lights The retro look is complemented by a fairing made of Poplar root wood The design is elegant, natural, and luxurious. And for fans of a sophisticated picnic, there's even a seating area.
Inside: It doesn't get any more elegant
A whopping 45 m² of leather – yes, really – line the interior, supplied by Baxter, one of the top names in upholstery. Everything you can touch is either leather or fine wood – solid poplar root wood, mind you. Not veneered, but milled from solid wood.
The whole thing feels more like Lounge & Bar than by car. This also fits the Technology: On 10,1″ touchscreen (Sony technology), Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, touch encoder, USB sockets (type B and C), individually adjustable ambient lighting, puddle lights – all the comfort you need, but packaged stylishly. And at the top of the headliner are aircraft-style switches.
And the startup process? Ignition key in record look, then "Engage", then "Start" – almost cinematic. And because music is part of the name Vinile: The sound system is our own development and houses 3 Rockford amplifiers, 10 speakers, 2 Focal subwoofers and one Mosconi signal processor. Plus Thender cables for flawless sound.
Engine: V8 with update
Under the hood, Vinile remains true to the original – at least as far as displacement is concerned. Revised 3,5-, 3,9- or 4,3-liter V8 petrol engine with injection, but with improved Performance. Result: about 200 PS, which represents a noticeable improvement over the original 167 hp. This results in a refined yet powerful drive, ideal for relaxed cruising.
