To our BMW X2 (F39) a contemporary upgrade, the factory-installed monitor can be replaced with a significantly larger Android display The new system looks like an original part and integrates harmoniously into the cockpit.
If you want more features – for example Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or directly pre-installed apps including navigation –, with such a aftermarket display significantly enhance the interior.
preparations and expansion
Our system comes from Idoing and we say at this point THANKS! Before the new panel can be installed, the panels and the old screen must first be removed. A plastic-friendly release, some patience and an eye for hidden clips.
Once all cable connectors have been cleanly disconnected and the screws loosened, the original monitor can be carefully removed. Then the new cables and adapters are fed through the cleared slot. It is important that all required connections – such as AUX-IN and eventual GPS antennas – be within easy reach before mounting the screen.

The core of the function is the supplied harness, which is connected between the on-board electronics and the new monitor. Here you should clean plug connections and attach the brackets to the new screen in the same way as you did with the old monitor.
You prefer a SIM card to access the Internet without a mobile hotspot, you can use the slot with a suitable SIM card. C or Android Auto You connect your smartphone to the new head unit via Bluetooth or WLAN and a SIM is not are required for operation.
test run and first impressions
If everything is connected and no error messages are displayed in the cockpit after assembly, the first test run can begin. The greatly enlarged display now offers not only more Overview near Navigation and music streaming, but also makes the interior visibly more modern.
All original controls remain fully intact and function as usual. With a little configuration - for example the language setting, the start screen or the desired apps - the system can be optimally adapted to your own needs. More detailed information can be found in our video (above).
