This basic equipment belongs to a tuning garage!

Having your own tuning garage is certainly a dream come true for many hobby mechanics! You can work comfortably on your own vehicle, with your own tools, and in a familiar environment. But setting up your own workshop isn't all that easy.

There are a few things you'll need to consider and probably even purchase new items if you want to tackle the tuning yourself. We'll take a look at the basic equipment you should have in your garage for tuning, which will make the job much easier.

1. Storage options

Every good garage should have enough storage space to accommodate both tools and spare parts. Make use of a wide variety of storage options. There are drawers, open shelves, or small pull-out drawers. The latter are ideal for small parts like screws, for example.

Consider what you need to have accessible at all times and which tools can be hidden away in the cabinet, out of sight. It's just important to maintain an organized system so nothing gets disorganized. Mobile cabinets are also a great investment for mobility within the garage.

To protect the floor, you should consider laying a floor mat in the garage as a precaution. This will prevent scratches and other damage when handling large and heavy components. Plastic floor tiles, which can be laid out in a checkerboard pattern throughout the garage, are best. This protects the floor and creates a stable base.

An oil mat is also a good idea if you want to change fluids in your vehicle. Large plastic containers can also be useful for catching dropped screws, so you don't lose anything.

3. Jack

The classic Car Jack is, of course, an essential part of any garage, because without it, you probably wouldn't get very far. With it, you can raise the vehicle and access previously inaccessible areas. Whether for a simple tire change or other underbody work, the car jack is a must-have in any tuning workshop!

4. Movable lighting

Lighting is a crucial factor in a garage, because when you're stuck in the middle of your vehicle, even a good overhead light isn't always enough. Portable light sources should therefore always be available; a headlamp is ideal for keeping both hands free. A flexible light with a magnetic base is also incredibly useful and can illuminate even the tightest spaces in the vehicle.

5. Work shoes

Of course, appropriate work clothing is also essential, and shoes are especially important. If you drop a tool or component, it can quickly become very painful. Therefore, invest in work shoes with steel toes to prevent these types of accidents.

6. Skateboard

To be able to view the car completely from underneath, a rolling board is required. This allows you to look underneath your vehicle while lying on your back and work without any problems. In combination with a hydraulic ramp This is, of course, even better, because it allows you to lift the entire vehicle at once and work on the underbody. Lifts are an expensive investment, but they're worth it for anyone who frequently tinkers with their vehicle.
